Matthew 14:22-36

²² Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. ²³ After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, ²⁴ and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

Introduction: Why do some individuals and organisations succeed despite limited resources while those with abundant resources fail? How do we multiply the value of our current resources?

John 6:16-24

Introduction: A harmonious family breeds prosperity. The family support is of paramount importance to our performance in the workplace. However, real ‘peace’ cannot be achieved through people as we are selfish. Rather, it comes from being ‘united’ with the Spirit. This is only attained through our Christian faith.

Dear friends, in this session, we continue with the same story of Jesus calming the Storm, but let us go to the Gospel of Mark.  It is the same revelation, but the word of God to us in this session, is best understood in the co-text of the account in Mark.

Mark 4:30-32

Let’s look at Boat TALK.

We have looked at Jesus calling his disciples from their boat at the sea.

Then we have looked at them journey with Jesus and were in danger in a boat on the sea.

We can see the changing symbolism of the boat and the sea.

That is so true in our lives.  A good thing can turn bad, and a bad thing can be used for good.

In Mark 3: 9

Luke 8:21-24 (NIV)

²¹ He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

²² One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. ²³ As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
