Introduction: It is difficult for employees to influence their boss’ decisions. However, we can take active steps anytime to influence the existing company culture.

Angelie: Hi everyone, I am Angelie and welcome to this episode of Workplace Strategy. Today, we have invited Dr. Michelle to answer your questions in this section called ‘Workplace Strategy Forum’. Dr. Michelle is an environmental senior specialist from Singapore. She has plenty of experiences at the workplace and also as an Adult Sunday School teacher. She frequently speaks on the topic of Workplace Christians in various churches. If you have any queries on the workplace related to our Christian faith, we welcome you to explore these issues with Dr. Michelle to seek solutions together. Dr. Michelle, we welcome you to share your workplace experience with us so that we can support one another and fulfil God’s calling for us through this programme on ‘Workplace Strategy Forum’.

Michelle: Thanks, Angelie. It is my honour to be here.

Angelie: Dear friends, we have invited Dr. Michelle to answer this question. One of our listeners has shared this concern. He said that in his line of work, he constantly must press the staff from another company to complete several tasks in a short period of time. Even though the demands he made were often unreasonable and could not be met by them, he still had to carry this out for the good of his own company. His boss also constantly urged him to do it so he also wishes that the staff could deliver the work quickly. One day, the work was delayed and his company had to take a huge loss! He knew that it was a tedious job for the other company’s staff, but he was not courageous enough to speak up for them. Such constant pressure to speed things up affect both companies’ relationships. The desired outcomes were often not achieved, causing them to lose trust in each other. He feels guilty about this situation and do not know how to resolve it.
