Hello friends, welcome to Workplace Strategy and our topic today – Overtime Culture!

How many hours do you work every day? 8, 9 or 10 hours? Do you often have to work OT (overtime)? When was the last time you had dinner with your loved ones? What do you do after work? Do you bring work home? Have time to pursue your hobbies? Do you feel your life and work are balanced?

The national average work hours for Chinese corporate employees are 46 hours per week. When this data was released, an overwhelming response from netizens flooded the internet. Many people asked where this data came from. Some commented sarcastically that they didn’t know of such a “relaxing” job. Others complained that they put in 70 hours every week, including weekends. Still others said they frequently work late till 11 or 12 midnight.

I hope, dear listeners, you do not need to work long hours. Afterall, excessive work hours will affect our health badly in the long run.
