"May these words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer" – Ps 19:14
The seventh biblical way to overcome procrastination is to recognize the power of our mind. We act on our conviction and our conviction is built upon our belief system. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he..” (Pr 23:7) Therefore our self-concept is our self-fulfilling prophecy. Everyday our mind is bombarded by millions of sensorial stimulation such as sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings. The Reticular Activating System (RAS) in our brain acts as a filter for these information at a rate of about 130 pieces of information per second. Our belief system tells our RAS what to let into our conscious mind. In other words, what we focus on we move towards to.
We procrastinate because we believe there is no solution to our problem. We must see beyond our problem that there is a great God that nothing is impossible for Him. When we says we do not know how to face such a great challenge but the scripture says, “If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know…” (Jn 7:17) We must constantly choose to believe God’s opinion of our situation and act accordingly by faith until His thoughts becomes our thoughts. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Col 3:16)
Faith is a currency that we can use it to transact with eternity. It enables us to realize eternal truth in our time and space. As we respond by faith we are redeeming the lost Kingdom culture so that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Let us “Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb 12:2)
Let’s pray.
Lord, thank you giving me a sound mind to meditate on your Words daily. Please renewmy mind so that it can be completely aligned with your will. In Jesus precious name, amen.
