Hello friends, a very warm welcome to Workplace Strategy!

It’s year-end! What a roller-coaster year 2020 has been! Certainly no one, simply no one, could have foreseen such a totally unexpected year! I am sure for most of you, some of your plans, especially travel plans didn’t work out. But perhaps some plans did and may even be better than expected. Some other plans must have been dramatically changed. Whatever, we can still take time to review before we move on!

Do you rate your work performance? Did you achieve more than you expected? More or less the same? Or you wish you had achieved more? Many companies practice this – they make year-end reviews, and using this as a basis, make plans for the coming year. It is good practice to review our careers and our lives too! Indeed, 2020 has been a year like no other! But looking on the positive side, we can review our life plans and events with new eyes since our world has been shaken upside down.

In English, the word ‘review’ has two syllables – ‘view’ means ‘to see’. The prefix ‘re’ means ‘again’. So the word, ‘review’ means ‘to see, again’. It’s not a quick, cursory glance but a process of going over again, ‘to look back’, ‘to look critically’, ‘to examine again’.
