"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. " - 1Co 1:10

The research tells us the five dysfunctions of a team are: (1) Absence of trust; (2) Fear of conflict; (3) Lack of commitment; (4) Avoidance of responsibility; (5) Inattention to results. Let me explore these with you over the coming  months from a biblical perspective as the Holy Spirit leads.

One of the bad things we see today is the division and factions in the body of Christ. "Di" means two and when a team has two visions, it will lead to division. Paul said in 1Co 1:13, "Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?". It sure grieves our heavenly Father's heart when the body of Christ is divided. People will only know that we are Christ's disciples if we love one another. (John 13:35)

Of course unity is not uniformity. Every individual is unique and different and yet as children of God we need to be one in spirit in the universal body of Christ. Hence learning to build a team to achieve the purpose of God on earth is very important. Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).

Team building also applies to marriage, family, and the organisations we belong to. Let us make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Eph 4:3)

Lets pray.
Lord, thank you for giving us many instructions about unity and team building in your Word. Please lead me by your Holy Spirit as I share this topic in the coming mornings. Amen.

Before we go, take a look at the questions below:

1. Do you believe your team is united? If the answer is no, which of the five major factors do you think is/are causing the issue?

2. In our faith, how do we balance unity with individual differences? What do you understand about the idea of "unity vs uniformity"?

3. In real life, how do you practice what is mentioned in Ephesians 4:3 "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace"?
