Luke 11:52 (NKJV): “Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”
One sign of your trustworthiness as a manager or employee is your possession of workplace keys. Keys to your facility, a company vehicle, equipment or machinery, special rooms or files. In today's high-tech world, keys also come in the form of keypad codes, ID cards with magnetic strips or chips, user names and passwords.
When those who are in authority grant you access, they are trusting that you will be honest, diligent and responsible with this access. It is an honor and a privilege, not a right.
The Lord is The Key of all true knowledge. Jesus is The Key to salvation. As a Christ-follower, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside, giving you supernatural understanding of His Word. Let us be careful, faithful key holders in all we do, for the Lord’s sake.
Let’s think about and discuss these questions:
1. Are you taking full advantage of this access to the divine knowledge? Are you helping or hindering others from accessing this knowledge?
2. Can you be trusted with the "keys to the Kingdom?" Why?
3. Every Christian knows the Good news: by God’s amazing grace, we can receive the precious gift of salvation to enter into His Kingdom freely. In your daily lives and at work, are you faithfully spreading this Good News or are you adding on other demands that only serve to distort the Grace of God?
